Volunteer and help improve the emergency care of children!
Do you want to help improve the emergency care of children?
Whether you're a student (an aspiring doctor, physician assistant, or nurse) or anyone who's eager to help or experience emergency medicine in action - THIS is your chance to get an up-close look at the field and MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
BASE Camp is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our production team or participate as simulation actors. Whether you're interested in healthcare, education, or acting—or simply curious about being this close to the action—this event offers a unique and immersive experience.
Join us and be a part of this exciting opportunity!
Our Production Team is essential to the success of BASE Camp. Over the weekend, you'll be involved in a range of crucial tasks, including:
Registering Attendees: Ensure a smooth check-in process and help attendees get settled.
Managing Schedules: Coordinate and guide participants to their designated areas at the right times.
Organizing Equipment and Supplies: Assist with setting up and managing all necessary emergency tools and materials to create a realistic emergency room experience.
Food Setup: Prepare and arrange breakfast and lunch for our attendees.
Breakdown: Help dismantle and pack up at the end of the event.
Your contributions will help keep everything running smoothly and ensure a successful experience for everyone involved!
Actors play a crucial role in bringing our simulated clinical cases to life. As a simulation actor, you’ll portray family members such as parents, uncles, aunts, and siblings. Your involvement adds realism to our simulations, allowing doctors, nurses, and child life specialists to practice family-centered conversations and interactions.
Role-Playing: Embody various family roles to enhance the realism of clinical scenarios.
Providing Feedback: Contribute valuable insights during debriefing sessions after each simulation, helping medical professionals refine their skills.
No acting experience is required, but you should be comfortable portraying heightened emotional states in front of an audience of strangers. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on medical training and practice!

“… one of the most fascinating experiences I have had… probably EVER! What an amazing event simulation… I enjoyed meeting the young drs and nurses. Everyone was very “into” the situation and I was amazed at the scope of the project.”
Lee Fleisher

“In addition to strengthening my desire to one day participate as a doctor in the field of emergency medicine, it was an absolute thrill and honor to be of service as an actor for BASE Camp, in simulations that may make a positive difference on health outcomes in the real world, should these doctors, nurses, and child-life specialists encounter a similar situation. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.”
Ian Cherry

“It is heartwarming to see all of the medical professionals not only practicing their medical skill but the skill of dealing with persons who are distraught and overwhelmed with anxiety.
